Interns Build their Knowledge of Careers in Finance

CareerExposureFiscalDuring career exploration events to learn about the field of finance, SF YouthWorks interns were asked why they have an interest in the field. Interns typically had a common response.  They want to understand finances and learn how money is managed.

This summer, youth with an interest in financial careers were able to visit the Controller’s Office, the Budget Director for the Department of Children Youth and Their Families, or the Purchasing Department.  At each site, they had the opportunity to hear from financial professionals about how and why they landed in their career tracks. Interns were excited to learn about these personal motivations and to reflect on their own interest in the field.

YouthWorks expects that by exposing interns to career areas of interest to them, youth participants will have better information to plan their own successful career paths.
