4/28 Rally and Board Hearing about Cuts to Youth Programs

City RallyDo you have something to say about the millions of dollars in proposed funding cuts to programs serving San Francisco’s children and youth?  Come be heard on Wednesday, April 28 at a Press Conference and Rally at City Hall scheduled to begin at 2pm.  Coleman Advocates for Children and Youth is organizing this advocacy event. At 3pm, there will be a a Board of Supervisors’ Budget Committee Hearing on the topic, with opportunities for members of the public to express their views.

Given the current financial challenges faced by the city, state and country, many important programs have lost or are in jeopardy of losing their funding.  YouthWorks is no exception.  YouthWorks receives funding for youth wages from about 25 city departments, many of which are facing significant shortfalls this year.  Given this situation, there is a potential for the number of youth we can serve this coming year to be significantly reduced from past years.

There are a few important opportunities for community voices to be heard during this year’s city budgeting process, and this is one of them!  If you have any questions about this event, please contact YouthWorks at information@sfyouthworks.org or Chelsea Boilard from Coleman Advocates cboilard@colemanadvocates.org.
