Introducing the Youth Leadership Team

SF Youthworks is excited to announce that we have selected five new members for our 2013 – 2014 Youth Leadership Team (YLT)! The YLT is made up of past interns who have demonstrated exceptional leadership ability. YLT members will design and facilitate their own activities and workshops for interns and mentors. In addition, YLT members will serve as youth ambassadors for the program, contributing a youth voice to YouthWorks outreach and advocacy. YLT members are selected after an extensive interview process that highlighted the unique interests, talents and experiences that each youth will bring to our program.

Introducing the 2013-14 Youth Leadership Team:

Hi, my name is Jennifer Cho, and I`m currently a senior at Lowell High School. In my free time, I like to play piano, and listen to music. Other than that, I am also a big “FOODIE”. I love trying out new restaurants!  I previously worked as an intern at SFPublic Defender`s Office in the 2012-2013 school year. I applied for YLT because I strongly believe that youth should have the opportunity to be employed. In the future, I want to go backpacking in Europe with my friends. Random Fact: I was born in Seoul, South Korea.

Hi, my name is Alan, I’m 15 and a junior at University High School. I play basketball, run track and field, and enjoy cooking. In the future I want to be an architect or engineer. I am now a YLT (Youth Leadership Team) member, and as an intern I worked at the San Francisco airport, in the Building Inspection and Code Enforcement department. And once during a basketball game I got a technical foul for dancing after hitting a big shot.

My name is William Huang. I am a senior at Galileo High School. During my free time, I enjoy playing basketball and weightlifting. Being in the YLT will allow me to develop public speaking skills and strengthen my leadership skills. My favorite quote is “Hard work beats talent, when talent fails to work hard.” – Kevin Durant

My name is Maggie and I am currently a senior at Galileo High School. I was born in Toronto, Canada and moved to San Francisco about 8 years ago. I interned at Castro – Mission Health Center in the summer of 2013 and have since enjoyed the enriching environment and experience that I continued on to the YLT program at JCYC. As a YLT member I hope to develop and improve workshops for future interns, as a way to contribute to the other youths of the city. In my free time I love to travel and visit new places.

Wing Ung is currently a senior at Galileo High School. Wing was born in Hong Kong but raised in San Francisco. Some of her hobbies are playing tennis, ping-pong, piano, guitar. She’s currently part of the Associated Student Body, the Tennis Team and the Ping-Pong Club. She previously interned at the Asian Art Museum and loved it there as she got retail experience. As a YLT member, Wing looks forward to develop her public speaking and communication skills and at the same time, she is eager to meet new people.
