Celebrating One Year of DACA

This week YouthWorks celebrates the one year mark of the passage of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. On Wednesday, September 4th YouthWorks participated in the San Francisco DACA Day and Resource Fair, organized by the Office of Civic Engagement & Immigrant Affairs. DACA is a program run by the Obama administration that grants qualifying youth a temporary two-year stay in the United States. Applicants who demonstrate an “economic necessity” may be eligible for a work card through DACA.

San Francisco DACA Day and Resource Fair included free drop in eligibility screenings and resources. YouthWorks is looking forward to the possibility of working with undocumented youth who were previously excluded from workforce development programs.
