August has arrived, which means the SF YouthWorks summer session has come to a close. This summer YouthWorks hired over 320 youth! Employment Coordinators worked hard through out the summer to interview, hire, and train all of our summer interns. Thank you to all of our incredible mentors and city departments whose participation made it possible to hire a record number of youth.
Over the summer, interns participated in various workshops and professional development opportunities. At the Money Management workshop interns went through a financial literacy training which helps them consider spending and saving priorities for their newly earned paychecks. Interns who attended our Job Seeking workshop got a head start on building their resumes and preparing for their next job interview. Through Career Exploration events hosted by various city departments interns learned about careers in finance, law, health, engineering and transportation.
On August 1st SF YouthWorks celebrated the end of a successful program at Dolores Park. Mentors and interns came together to enjoy Hawaiian Barbeque, fun games and even some rare San Francisco summer sunshine. Check out the pictures from the festivities below.
