This month we are working with YouthWorks interns to explore possible future career options. All interns participate in a career exploration workshop that guides them in thinking about the different aspects involved in choosing a career. Through a variety of participatory exercises, youth consider their own:
- fields of interest
- relevant skills
- salary and lifestyle priorities
- preferred working conditions
- personality type
- educational goals
As a follow up to this workshop, youth will create a plan to research one or two careers of interest to them over the course of their YouthWorks experience. This research might include informational interviews, online research, worksite tours, and other activities.
