Special Thanks to the Public Utilities Commission

At the end of every year, YouthWorks recognizes the departments whose generous financial contributions have enabled the program to thrive. This year, seven City departments received Sustainer Awards recognizing their contributions.  However, a special recognition is deserved by our largest departmental funder, the Public Utilities Commission (PUC).

The PUC has provided financial support to YouthWorks throughout our 13 year history, and has been the largest departmental contributor since the 2004-2005 program year.  The PUC’s generous financial support enabled the program to hire almost 100 interns in 2010-2011 alone.

This department has demonstrated significant commitment to providing youth with employment opportunities and exposing them to the types of careers available in the PUC.  Furthermore, many YouthWorks alumni go on to participate in Project Pull, an internship program that operates out of the PUC.  Some alumni have also gone on to employment within the PUC>

For the coming year, we look forward to partnering with them to add new enhancements to the large number of YouthWorks internships that are sponsored by the PUC.
