This summer, SF YouthWorks is excited to be partnering with San Francisco Unified School District’s Career Technical Education (CTE) program. High school students in the CTE program choose Career Academies that frame academic learning around a career theme such as Law, Health, IT, or Finance. SF YouthWorks has been working to provide some youth in the CTE program with summer internships related to their Career Academies. For instance, several youth in the Finance Academy were placed in internships in the City’s Purchasing Department. By participating in YouthWorks internships, youth in the CTE program develop professional skills, learn about a broad career field, and experience how that career field plays a role in the San Francisco City government. We are particularly excited to place youth in the CTE program in internships that fit their career interests, giving them a chance to take the concepts they have been learning all year and put them into action in the workplace.
