Laura was born and raised in San Francisco’s Mission District. She is currently a senior at Mission High School. Laura became part of the YouthWorks program over the summer of her junior year. Laura worked at the main library, specifically in the teen space. She enjoyed being able to see what it’s really like to work in a library and help facilitate fun activities in the teen space. She enjoyed learning from her mentor and gaining real life experience and getting to know the different type of public service jobs. Laura wanted to be a YLT because she wanted to gain experience in being a leader and be able to help future interns. She also wanted to gain perspective on what it is like to be the one teaching others. Laura’s plans after high school are to attend a four year college and get into medical school. She hopes to become a nurse practitioner. Laura’s hobbies include visiting parts of San Francisco she hasn’t seen, reading, binge-watching, and some occasional shopping.
