Testimonials from a Successful Summer Experience

This summer YouthWorks had the opportunity to work with many great new mentors and interns. These two testimonials provide an insight into what was a very successful session!

“Today was my first day out on a bookmobile with Danny. I want you to know that he was fantastic. He is great interacting with kids of all ages, helping them find books they want, signing them up for summer reading, and telling them about how the library works and what it offers. He told me before we went out that yesterday he started to feel comfortable talking to the kids. From what I saw, he is a very fast learner and/or a natural. His instincts are great, stepping in when needed, not pushy, crouching to talk to smaller kids. He is also a hard worker, always finding or asking for more to do; he understands how a library is organized and when he’s not sure, he asks. The positive feedback is not just from me; everyone in our department is enjoying having Danny on board. Thank you for allowing him to work this summer at the library!”

“My internship has been amazing so far. This is my first job, so I was quite intimidated in the beginning. I really didn’t know what to expect, but I knew I was looking for a new experience this summer. My mentor, the MYEEP intern, and the staff were incredibly helpful and supportive. I was surprised because I’m usually such a shy person, but my mentor and co-intern were so welcoming and down-to-earth that I’ve easily grown attached to them in such a short period of time.”
